- Auto answer: anyone with the number can call to check if you are OK.
- GPS tracking: if someone goes missing they can easily be located and have help sent to them.
- Low battery alarm: if the device is not charged it will send a message to say put it on charge.
- Fall sensor: if a fall happens the alarm will trigger automatically and call for help.
- Geo fencing: an alarm will trigger if the geofence is broken.
- Movement alert: this can be set so if the person wearing it goes wandering it will alert; this is good if being used in a confined space (nursing home) and the staff are busy and cannot monitor everyone at once.
- No motion alert: a time will be set when expected movement should happen; if there is no movement by a preset hour, an alert will be sent; great for people monitoring a group of people living in the community.
- Over speed alert: this could be hidden in a car if you have teenagers borrowing your car for a night out; the speed can be set and an alert will be sent if exceeded. It is also very useful for a person who may get on public transport and not know where they are.
- Smart tracking: this is a registered service that can monitor where the device has been. Great for lone workers.

There are two ways that the Little Gem will call for help:
- If you fall – the LG will automatically contact the numbers that are programmed into it. It will not go off if you just drop it.
- Pressing the silver SOS button – This will call your contacts in turn until one of them answers. They will then be able to speak to you without you doin

- Pressing the silver SOS button – This will call your contacts in turn until one of them answers. They will then be able to speak to you without you doing anything, and they will send help, to where you are. They can access a map and give this location to the emergency Services. The SOS button has raised letters so you can feel for it. It will vibrate in your hand and also beep.
Notes for the responder.
SAVE the number of the LG as a contact. e.g. Mum’s Little Gem. This will ensure that you know who is calling. You will receive a text message saying “Help Me” and a few seconds later you will receive a call.
ANSWER the call and you will be able to speak to the person who has pressed the button. If they need help, you can tell them you are coming, or you can hang up and call Emergency Services. You need to tell them where the person is.
When you have notified Emergency Services you can either give them the number and they can call the person, or you can call them back and reassure them help is on the way.
You also need to know how to get into the house. Where is the spare key, is the door always open, will someone with a key meet the ambulance etc.?
If any of the numbers need to be changed, the process is very simple:
From any mobile phone, send a text message to the device number:
1st. number = A1,447452…………
You will receive a response telling you that the number has been set.
2nd. number = B1,447452……
3rd. number = C1,447452……
*Note: You have to put in a comma.
By doing this you will override the previous numbers.
The LG will be set up for you. You just need to wear it and press the button if you need help.

What inspired us and why everyone needs a Little Gem.
Whilst working within these roles it became apparent time and time again that many people are not being cared for as they should. There is no one to blame for this.
The system of care is broken, people are working longer hours for less, people are living longer and everything is more expensive.
Everyone is trying to do their best and give the best service to the people they work with and the people they care about but it’s still not enough.
We wanted to be part of the solution. GemaCare was established to support the Little Gem. The Little Gem will help people remain independent in their own homes, knowing that help is only a call away. False alarms will be reduced. The person with the LG will gain confidence in what they can do. The carers will not be worried that something terrible will happen when they are not there.
The Little Gem can also be used in larger settings. Nursing homes can use the LG for residents, this allows the staff to respond to a call quickly without the fear that someone may not be able to reach their bell or pull cord if they have a fall. It also helps if there are patients with dementia who may go wandering. One person can monitor several alarms. This can significantly reduce stress on team members.
